About the Triad Public Safety Radio Group

The Triad Public Safety Radio Group was founded in late 2011 by two local law enforcement officers that also happened to be amateur radio operators. The founding members noticed that in addition to the many amateur radio operators that were already working in public safety, there were also many more that had an interest in amateur radio but did not know where to begin. The founding members then set out to create an organization to both serve those members already working in public safety, and to encourage others to become amateur radio operators. The result is today's Triad Public Safety Radio Group.
The Triad Public Safety Radio Group is made up of current and retired local, state, and federal law enforcement, fire, and emergency services personnel with a wide variety of backgrounds and areas of expertise. We are unified under a common interest of radio communications and amateur radio. The purpose of the Triad Public Safety Radio Group is not to replace or be in competition with the various amateur radio-related service organizations, but to serve as a "bridge" between the professional public safety organizations and the amateur radio community and their related organizations.
The Triad Public Safety Radio Group is based in Greensboro, North Carolina, and meets bi-monthly at various public safety locations. Membership in the Triad Public Safety Radio Group is open to any current or retired member of a official public safety agency, including local, state, or federal law enforcement, fire, emergency services, and emergency management agencies. Membership in the Triad Public Safety Radio Group is not just limited to amateur radio operators, but to any member of a public safety agency with an interest in radio communications. The specific operations and membership requirements for the Triad Public Safety Radio Group are outlined in our By-Laws.
